The rounded, semi-circular, heart-shaped or flattened anterior tip of the body, clearly distinguishable from the trunk, which occurs in many species of nemerteans; although it quite often bears eyes and cephalic furrows, the cephalic lobe is not strictly equivalent to a head as it usually does not contain the cerebral ganglia.
