Amphiporus cordiceps

(Jensen, 1878)

Description:
Short and stout animal, length reaching 8 cm, width 0.5-1 cm. The body is cylindrical, the head not wider than the body. Olive-green with six yellow lines on the foremost part of the head, radiating from the tip. On the head, two deep cephalic grooves of complicated shape, separate the snout from the body.

Habitat:
It occurs in mud and sand in shallow water and is found in waters of less than 20 รค salinity.

Distribution:
The species is recorded from the west coast of Norway, the Kattegat and the Kieler Bight.
